Insurance & Payment Information
At Fourth Trimester Doc, we welcome all patients, regardless of insurance status. Please note that we are an out-of-network provider.
Claims & Reimbursements
After your visit, we provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
- Reimbursify: We recommend using Reimbursify to help with your claim submission. Many of our patients find they can be reimbursed for a significant portion of their costs, especially after meeting their deductibles related to childbirth.
- Preventative Care Coverage: Our postpartum, lactation, and newborn services are considered preventative care. Check with your insurance provider to see how this applies to you.
Reimbursement With The Lactation Network
Our partnership with The Lactation Network (TLN) lets us bill insurance for about half of our services, which are fully covered with no cost-sharing. This means this portion won’t count towards your deductible.
How It Works: If you have an insurance plan accepted by TLN (refer to the information box to the right), the lactation consultant portion of your visit will be fully covered. This means you won’t have any out-of-pocket expenses for that part of the service.
Benefits of Using TLN: Lower out-of-pocket costs and the convenience of having your insurance billing handled for you.
TLN accepts the following insurance plans, contingent on approval:
- Anthem PPO
- Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO
- Humana PPO
- VA OptumEast
- Premera
- Regence
- UnitedHealthcare (PPO and HMO)
- UMR
- Oxford
- Cigna (Determined on a case-by-case basis by TLN)
- Any plan featuring the MultiPlan or PNOA logo on insurance card

We encourage you to reach out to your insurance company to explore your specific coverage options. Since we are an out-of-network provider, they can offer detailed information on how our services may be covered and any out-of-pocket costs.
Confirm Your Coverage With TLN
You can check your insurance coverage with TLN with no obligation below. Please keep in mind that The Lactation Network only provides partial coverage and does not cover our physician fees or travel fees.
HSA/FSA Information
We accept payments via HSA/FSA.
Check with your human resources department regarding the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) as payment options. If you cannot use these funds directly, there’s a good chance you can use your HSA/FSA for reimbursement for services.
